Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how byeshe (the “Service Provider,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Within: Journal & Reflection mobile application (the “Application”). The Application is provided as a freemium service.

Your journal is local-first. Your reflection entries, custom prompts, notes to yourself, mood selections, and meditation history are stored on your device. We do not upload the content of your journal to our servers for analytics or advertising.

Information you provide

The Application may store information you choose to enter, including a display name, journal entries, mood and tag selections, custom prompts, reminders, preferences, notes to yourself, and meditation activity. This information is used on your device to provide the Application’s journaling, insights, reminders, backup, app-lock, and related features.

The Application does not require you to create an account. If you contact us for support, we receive the information in your message, such as your email address and anything you choose to include.

Local storage, backup, export, and sharing

Your journal data is stored in the Application’s private storage on your device.
If your device has Android backup enabled, Android or your device provider may back up Application data according to your device and Google account settings.
When you export a backup, import a file, or share an image, you choose the file and destination. The receiving app, storage provider, or person handles that copy under their own privacy practices.
You can delete individual content in the Application or remove locally stored Application data by clearing app data or uninstalling the Application.

Information collected automatically

The Application and its service providers may automatically process limited technical and usage information, such as device and operating-system information, app version, language, coarse region inferred from an IP address, advertising or app-instance identifiers, feature interactions, purchase status, crash reports, diagnostics, and performance data. We use this information to operate the Application, understand aggregate usage, prevent abuse, fix problems, configure features, and support advertising and purchases.

Analytics events are designed not to include your journal text, custom questions, or tag values.

Advertising and consent choices

The free version may display ads. Depending on your region, device settings, and consent choices, advertising providers may process identifiers and usage information to deliver, measure, limit, or personalize ads. Where required, the Application presents a consent form or privacy-options control. You can also adjust advertising privacy settings on your device. Purchasing an ad-free or premium offering may change whether ads are shown.

Purchases and payment

Purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details. The Application may receive product, transaction, entitlement, and purchase-status information needed to provide purchased features, restore access, prevent fraud, and offer support.

Location

The Application does not request or collect precise real-time location data. Service providers may infer a coarse location, such as a country or region, from an IP address for security, analytics, consent, or advertising purposes.

When information may be disclosed

We may disclose information to service providers acting on our behalf; when required by law or valid legal process; to protect rights, safety, and security; to investigate fraud or abuse; or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell your journal content.

Retention and your choices

Locally stored content remains on your device until you delete it, clear Application data, or uninstall the Application, subject to any backup copies controlled by you or your device provider. Automatically collected data is retained according to the settings and policies of the relevant service provider and only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. You can stop future collection by uninstalling the Application.

For questions or requests concerning information held directly by us, contact play@byeshe.com. We may need information sufficient to verify and process your request. We cannot delete journal data that exists only on your device or in a backup account we do not control.

Children

The Application is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we process. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device, exported files, and any backup accounts. The optional app lock adds a device-level access check but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Your continued use of the Application after an update means the revised policy applies.
